It was gathered that gunmen, numbering over 30, stormed the resident of the royal father in Akpautong in the early hours of Tuesday and made away the chief.
The abductors were said to have arrived the resident, fired gunshots, waking the villagers in the process, just as they overpowered the security operatives attached to the traditional ruler.
Family sources said that the abductors, who established contact with the family through a telephone call, were demanding a ransom of N150 million.
